Adopting a Dog

On Thursday I went to the Austin Animal Center and I met Marla. I fell in love with her and wanted to adopt her right away. They told me I had to wait until Sunday because she got lost from her original home and they were trying to contact the owner. Turns out the owner never showed up and I went to pick her up on Sunday.

Before even going to the shelter, I had already considered getting a dog so I made a list of things I needed before getting one.

I'm so glad I did this because I was 99.9% ready for this dog.

I think adopting is the best choice. AAC charges $75 adoption fee and it includes a spayed or neutered dog/cat with a microchip, vaccines against heartworm(dog), rabies and flees and ticks, also, they give you a free tag.

It all comes down to a personal choice. If you wish to adopt that's great! and if you wish to buy a specific breed that's also great! Just make sure you give this dog lots of love.

Here is a list of a few things I would recommend for you to get before you get the dog. Of course, food or treats are not included because you won't know what type of food you need to get until you have the dog.
Things to get when you get a dog
Getting all of this before getting the dog will save you Petco and PetSmart trips and help your dog get used to its new house and owner without having to go out much for the first few weeks.

Love,
